Dr. Karen BarnesDr. Karen Barnes graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1989 and has been practising small animal medicine and surgery in North Bay since 1992. Her areas of interest include soft tissue surgery and small animal medicine. She has her specialist certification in Canine Rehabilitation and Equine Rehabilitation & Performance enhancement. Dr. Barnes also sees patients at our Mattawa office once a week. She is a past president of the Northern Ontario Veterinary Association and past member of directors at the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association. She is presently on the Board of Directors at Nipissing University. In her spare time, Dr. Barnes trains and shows her dressage horses, Hadley and Valentino.

Dr. Sherri ReaDr. Sherri Rea graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1988. She moved to North Bay in November 1988 and joined Dr. Glenn Ouellette in building Lakeshore Animal Hospital in 1990. She enjoys small animal practice especially internal medicine and diagnostics. She has been very active in two veterinary organizations. Since 2003 to present she holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer of the Northern Ontario Veterinary Association. From it’s formation in 2001 she has been a director on the Farley Foundation Board, a charity that funds veterinary care for people in need. Her home life balance keeps her energy levels high with tending after her three children and a dog. She maintains her fitness with laps in the pool and lake swims and she recently took up cycling enjoying her first charity Farley Ride in September 2012.

Dr. Glenn OuelletteDr. Ouellette graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1988. While he excels as a diagnostician his passion is surgery with orthopaedics as being his favourite. He has the distinction of being our hospital’s computer technical advisor and efficiently manages to keep our computer ship on course. Dr. Ouellette has been an active committee member of the Northern Ontario Veterinary Association’s annual conference, and was President for the 2012-2013 term. He balances his career with his role as father to three children and his entourage of pets. His outdoor interests include cycling, and birding wherever life takes him.

Office Manager/RVTLori-Ann graduated as a RVT in May 2003 from Ridgetown College and started working for North Bay Animal Hospital shortly after as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She started as office administrator in June 2013. Lori-Ann is valued for her compassion and hardworking attitude. She loves spending time with her husband, two daughters and pets. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, sewing, gardening and cake decorating.

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)Tracy is the head technician here at the North Bay Animal Hospital. After graduating from Northern College in 2004 she became part of our team. Tracy is a hard working member and plays a very important role here at the hospital – she helps keep the hospital running smoothly by training new technical staff, inventory control and equipment maintenance. Her technical duties include assisting in surgery, running the in-house diagnostic lab, radiography, and patient care. Tracy keeps active by playing baseball and volleyball. When she is not working she is listening to music and enjoying a good book. She is very close to her family – which includes her 4 cats!

Veterinary TechnicianLaura has been working at the North Bay Animal Hospital since she graduated as an RVT in 2008. In 2014 she returned to school and graduated as a RPN. She has a passion for horses and animals and loves being a patient advocate and communicating with clients. When not at work you will find Laura spending time on her 30 acre farm with her husband Jeff, their shared children and their many animals. Laura shares her house with 1 cat and 3 dogs! The rest of the crew live in the barn.

Veterinary TechnicianBree started her career at the North Bay Animal Hospital in March 2019. She received her Veterinary technology diploma and her companion animal rehabilitation certificate from Northern College in 2015. She worked as a technician down south until relocating to North Bay with her husband and 3 cats. When not at work, you will find Bree spending time with her husband exploring North Bay.

ReceptionistMissy has been one of our wonderful receptionists since January 2018. She has a great love for all animals, especially shepherds. When she is not at work she is at home taking care of her animals and riding her horses.

Receptionist/RVTMelanie has been a great addition to the NBAH family. Before going back to school to pursue her life long dream she worked as a Personal Support Worker for 5 years. As a graduate of the Veterinary Technician Program at Northern College in 2016 she brings veterinary medicine knowledge and a love of animals. She has a positive attitude and always full of smiles. Her and her partner Alex share their home with three cats; Ringo, Yoko and June. She enjoys camping, spending time with family and friends and soaking up the sun at the beach.

CustodianHelen joined the North Bay Animal Hospital team in November 2017. She takes care of all the janitorial duties around the clinic. When she is not cleaning she is spending time with her family and pets.

Kennel AttendantOwen works behind the scenes here at North Bay Animal Hospital. He is the one who tends to all the pets needs after hours and on weekends. With only a start date of May 2019, he is doing an excellent job!
